With the upsurge in popularity KOMBUCHA has been taken up by the big supermarkets. They charge up to 415 for a bottle of this remarkable ferment, which actually costs cents to make out of what is essentially left over (waste) tea.
It is reputed to cure everything from kidney stones to cancer, but whatever, it is an ancient brew, and certainly when brewed properly is a wonderful fizzy alternative to almost any drink during the day. My children loved it, and I always had 3 large jars on the go.
