Ever since the tragedy of the Australian Bushfires in 1983 I have been making dolls, inspired by the Late Mirka Mora. It helped me through a time of trauma and grief, and now with so much of it again, and fear in the air, I am sharing this pattern so that you can all make these wonderful dolls. There is only a tiny bit of sewing by hand or machine, just to sew the body (which includes the head) into a tube to be stuffed.
This pattern makes a beautiful doll and you can adapt it to any size, from key ring to giant and everything in between. They are totally huggable and can be washed (provided you use washable fabric and stuffing). Bits can be replaced, patches can be added... they are not just to be put on a shelf. These are dolls to be loved. The old they get, the more they are loved enthusiastically, the better they will look.
You can go wild with the fabrics using plain or patterned... soft, organic, synthetic, old sheets - anything will give you a beautiful cuddle'able doll for any age.
